Exciting

We have been meeting for 4 weeks now and what a blessing this class has been to all of us.  We have learned so much and feel as though our life has improved because of it.

Our book study over James MacDonald's book, "Lord, Change my Attitude" has been a real eye opener.

Week one was about replacing a complaining attitude!  I think we all can use some help in this area.  Each one of us made a conscious effort to become more positive and reduce our complaining and grumbling.  Some points that stuck out to me:

* In the short term, complaining separates us from God, in the long term it becomes a lifestyle that sends us to the wilderness.
*Complaining is to express dissatisfication with a circumstance which is not worng and about which I'm bnot doing anything to correct.
*Are you a complainer?  It's easy to see it in others.  It's hard to see it in ourselves.  When we complain, we think we're just getting things off our chest.   But when other people complain, we're like, "now, that's not helping anything."  We challenge you to ask, "god, am I a complainer?"

Week two was titled "with a thankful attitude."  We all have SO much to be thankful for but do we act that way.  Do we realize that and are we appreciative?  Some points that stuck out to me:

*Only when we acknowledge God as the gracious provide of general blessings, like life and breath, food and shelter, do we begin to comprehend our need for God in a personal way and begin to express faith in Him.
*Dietrich Bonhoeffer said "In ordinary life we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich."
*If somebody collected a dollar from you every time you complained and gave you one every time you showed gratitude, would you be rich or poor?
*When a prayer is answered or something wonderful happens, before you talk to anyone else, go to God immediately and thank Him.

Week 3 was was about replacing a covetous attitude.  To be honest, I was really sure what to expect in this lesson.  I knew what covet meant but didn't realize exactly how it related to every day life.  Boy, were my eyes opened!! Some points that stuck out to me:

*What is Covetousness?
     1) Wanting wrong things
     2) Wanting right things for the wrong reasons.
     3) Wanting right things at the wrong time.
     4) Wanting right things in the wrong amount.
*Things were never designed to take God's place.  When we covet something and make it essential, then beg God to give it to us, we are asking God to replace Himself with something we consider more important. When we do this, God will often allow us to experience firsthand the condequences of substituting anything for Him.
*Coveting includes giving anything other than God our best affection and our highest attention.

I am so excited about what week 4 will bring.....The topic is contentment.

I am so thankful for FBC giving us this opportunity to grow as christian moms.  It has given me a renewed energy!

Anyone is welcome to join us!!!  We would love to have you!  Cynthia does a great job in leading us!
